Food

First time aku masak nasik guna periuk * bukan periuk nasik okay?* atas api when i was 6 years old. Arwah moyang aku yang ajar. Time tu masak atas kayu api. No joke! Arwah moyang sangat - sangat particular when it comes to cucu perempuan. Dia cakap pompuan Minang kene pandai memasak, nanti lelaki Minang kawin dengan puak lain.Something like that la..So dari situ la Mak mula nampak bakat aku masak.Pantang mak masuk dapur, aku berlari masuk sama. Dulu my nanny, Mak cik Kiah suka buat roti canai from scratch every weekends, so Mak cik Kiah sometimes ajar aku cam ne nak uli tepung, how to tibar and the proper way to fold the roti. Tapi now memang tak ingat coz dah lama gila.

Lets flash back to 1993. 2 weeks after i arrived to UK, my mom enrolled me to North Primary School in Southall, UK. This school has up to 90% foreign student. From India, Pakistan, Japan,Korea, and also Europe. But there's also local student. So each Friday, our class teacher will assigned the international student to make something which represent their home country. When it was my turn, my mom make Nasi Lemak.Everybody was so excited the day before and as i was about to go home, my class teacher Mrs. Davis told me " Zara, please kindy inform your mother not to make it too spicy". At first aku pelik jadah pulak minah salleh ni tahu Nasi Lemak ni pedas, rupanya dia ni regular customer dekat Malaysian Hall. Kisah!

So next day, mak aku hantar pegi sekolah. Lepas mak aku re pack tupperware Nasi Lemak, semua student meluru beratur nak makan.Tengok dia orang makan sangat berselera. Mak memang puas hati la time tu.Sebab suma student and teacher from other class seems to enjoy her cooking. Mak memang jenis suka and sangat pandai memasak.Balik dari kelas , mak mesti buat something. From cakes to kuih-kuih. Kat sana celah bedah mane nak mencarik karipap bagai ye tak? So i guess minat memasak aku came from my mom. Masa duduk UK, macam jenis food ada. Sebab kat sana kira nak mix culture. The Indians most of them dah duduk situ sejak 3 generations ago.Class mate aku, Nilam from Bombay. Mak dia *dah tak ingat nama* selalu ajak aku makan dekat rumah dia orang. From different kind of Curry to Chapati. Then lelama mak aku pun bleh jadi geng dengan Mak dia. Dari situ gak la mak belajar masak sikit2 masakan india. Dhal tetel mak until now bila teringat balik, kecur air liuq bak hang!.

Sekarang bila dah besar, and Mak pun tak berapa sihat, weekends is the tme where i have the Kicthen all to myself. Aku memang pantang sesape masuk. So hari Sabtu pagi aku rush pergi Library, then dalam pukul 12 aku dah balik. Lepas aje semayang Zohor, sampai ke malam memang dalam dapur la aku melepak. Sama ade aku bace buku resipi or aku masak. Hobi paling aku suka dalam dapur is, mengemas fidge and almari. Bila mengemas, sambil tu aku boleh pikir apa nak di masak or di buat.

Bila aku ni da terlampau rajin nak memasak, the biggest advantages goes to Alya or Che Mat. Why? coz dia orang berdua selagi boleh disumbat, dia orang akan sumbat. Che Mat suka makan. Dari mula kenal sampai sekarang, perut makin buncit and pipi makin labuh.Alya pun sama. Dua orang ni la Guinea pig aku bila aku try new recipes. From Pastries to local food. Mak and abah kurang sebab both of them memang "tekak melayu".Sometimes aku akan bawak pergi office untuk share dengan bebudak office. Dulu pernah au bawak Red Velvet Cupcakes and most of them love it..

Now aku tengah renovate rumah baru. Mula-mula masa nak design rumah aku siap warning dekat mak and abah. I need my own space in the Kitchen. I need my own spice rack, herbs pots and pantry.Now rumah dah dekat nak siap, aku dah demand mak 2 kabinet just untuk simpan barang - barang memasak aku. Most barang - barang memasak macam spatula, measuring cups and hand mixer semua beli sendiri. Punya semangat, but ada satu bende yang aku dok eye-ing on.Aku da banyak kali pujuk abah tuk belikan as my present tapi disebabkan harge nya agak tak masuk dek akal, usaha memujuk abah tidak berjaya. Now nak memujuk Che Mat.

Idaman kalbu. *dowling*




Call me typical girl but pink is one of my favorite colour. Look at that? Isnt it cute?? Harga nya menjadi satu masalah yang tidak dapat dibendung. Rm 3,500. Yes! Lebih kurang sebulan gaji aku. Oh mengapakah?? Member aku sorang ni masa memula kawen husband dia belikan tapi sampai lani dia tak pakai. Sebab dia tak suka memasak. Aku siap offer nak beli dari dia but dia tak nak. Sabar je la.

Aku rasa sebelum ni ada entry aku tulis pasal memasak jugak. I mentioned about cooking is my way of releasing stress. Others maybe bila stress akan makan, but not me. I just love cooking. Masa Nena and Fazli baru pindah Shah Alam, aku offer nak masak untuk dia orang. Aku masak Daging Black Pepper, Butter Prawn or Fazli calls it Udang Bertelur and Sayur Campur. Fazli siap suruh aku masuk Master Chef. hahaha.. Ingat senang nak masuk?

Aku teringin sangat nak bukak my own bakery. Sekarang ni most my customer's just my unties and cousin.Sometimes ada lah kawan mak order tarts and cupcakes from me.Its fun isnt it? Having a hobby which can turn out to be your income. Maybe insyallah in future aku bolah buka bakery sendiri. Who knows?
