Almost reaching the end of August and i hope its not too late for me to wish all of ya'll Selamat Hari Raya.This year raya i would classified as "so so". It has been like that since the years where my great grandmother died afew years back.
She was the one who would make sure that everybody, and i do mean everybody to return to our hometown the night before and she doesnt accept any excuses. How about that? She also will be the one who will assign everybody on what to do and so on.
The best thing about raya when she was still around is her Rendang. Nothing and i do mean NO ONE can beat her Rendang daging and rendang ayam.Other like my mom, my aunt or even me knows how to cook rendang but then nothing can beat hers. My mom said "air tangan unyang is unbeatable".
Arwah unyang is a great cook. No one can deny that.My mom had the privilege of learning how to cook from her. But the all of us did had a chance to learn how to make her famous rendang daging but like mom said 'air tangan unyang unbeatable'.
So, this raya was dull.Bored as hell.Usually i would spend afew bucks to buy more than 4 baju kurung for raya but this year, i only had 1. The one that i bought from my trip in Vietnam.Tahts it! Maybe its because thinking of i need to save up as much as posible for my wedding day.
We didnt take any family pictures like we used too.On the morning or raya, it was only me, my sister, mom and dad with my aunt and my cousin. Thats it. My youngest aunt who just got married would be spending the raya with her husband side first and then only celebrate with us on second of raya. My grandmother from Kulai will be returning to Rembau on the afternoon of raya.

The afternoon of raya my father side of the family came. A few of my cousin, aunties and also my grandfather.Both of side of my family are very close. We're like a very huge family. Sangat huge.Whenever i see their faces, now i feel like raya. Not long after that, my aunties and other cousin from Johor and Bentong arrived.
Then fast forward to the last day of long holiday we decided to end our weekend with a family barbecue. Me, my 2 aun and sister and my cousin drive all the way to Jusco Seremban 2 to buy bunch of stuff and we took alot of lamb,shrimp, calamari,chicken. Then my aunt asked me to cook Fusion Carbonara Spagetti, mashed potato and salad. Alot right. You bet. We spend nearly 300 bucks,..hahaha.
My dad mentioned that this year would be the last raya i would be receiving duit raya from him as in of next year, someone else would be giving me duit raya. Well i tried to make myself happy and enjoying my raya as like my dad mentioned that this would be the last raya for me as a single girl. Next year would be celebrating raya with my hubby. Insyallah. Look forward to it =)
Thats all for raya story. Dull isnt it? Yes... Hope next raya would be much more fun compared to this year. My mom already told everyone that next year would be celebrating at our Seremban home and would be a barbecue again celebrating abahs' and alyas' bday and also.... sambut menantu!
